VILNIUS, Jun 25, BNS – General Jorg Vollmer is paying an official visit to Lithuania – the first in his new role as the commander of Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum.

Previously, the general often visited Lithuania as Chief of Staff of the German Army, the Ministry of National Defense said in a press release.

Vollmer will meet with Lithuania’s military leadership to discuss the regional security situation, the aspects of defense planning and the activities of NATO units stationed in Lithuania.

The aim of the visit is also to improve interactions between the management structures of Lithuania’s Armed Forces and NATO and to keep fostering military cooperation and strengthening regional security.

NATO General will meet with Lithuanian National Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis, Lithuania's Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Valdemaras Rupsys and other representatives of Lithuania’s Armed Forces.

The Allied JFC Brunssum is responsible for the provision of appropriate command and control to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan as well as for the coordination of NATO’s readiness and deterrence.
