Siam (Thailand) recognized Lithuania de jure on 23 January 1923.

Thailand recognized the re–established independent State of Lithuania de jure on 9 September 1991.

Diplomatic relations were established on 9 April 1993.

From 2002 to 2006, Dainius Ginutis Voveris served as the first Ambassador of Lithuania to Thailand (resided in Lithuania).

From 16-03-2009, H.E. Miss Sigute JAKSTONYTE, served as Ambassador of Lithuania to Thailand (resided in Lithuania).
