VILNIUS, Jun 23, BNS – Lithuania has so far spent a total of 84.4 million euros on various measures to fight the coronavirus, with the Health Ministry's Health Emergency Situations Center having spent almost half of the total amount, the country's Public Procurement Service monitoring coronavirus-related procurements said on Tuesday.

Its figures show 288 establishments have organized procurements, having signing 1,241 purchase contracts with 342 different suppliers.

Ten buyers accounted for 80 percent of the total procurements, and ten highest-value contracts accounted for almost half – 48.9 percent – of the total value of contracts.

The Health Ministry's Health Emergency Situations Center has been the biggest spender so far, spending 38.8 million euros, o 46 percent of the total amount.

Vilnius City Municipality came in second with 32 contracts and 10.9 million euros, followed by the Defense Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defense and Santara Clinics in Vilnius but their procurements values are considerably smaller, totaling more than 3 million euros.

Contracts with suppliers from 12 different countries were signed during the analyzed period, the PPS said, with Chinese companies making the majority of them, followed by companies from Israel, the UK and Sweden.

Chinese companies accounted for 79.2 percent among foreign suppliers, but value of the purchases from them stood at 95.8 percent.
