VILNIUS, Jun 22, BNS – Lithuania will this week step up preventive testing for COVID-19 in Sirvintos, Vilnius District, Jonava, Vilnius, Salcininkai, Radviliskis and Klaipeda District where coronavirus morbidity has been higher than in the remaining municipalities of the country.

The national coronavirus morbidity rate reached 3.6 cases per 100,000 population, the Health Ministry said.

Testing will be stepped up in the municipalities with the morbidity rates above the national average and with more than one COVID-19 case confirmed over the past 14 days.

The municipalities matching these criteria include the municipality of Sirvintos (66.3), Vilnius District Municipality (21), Jonava Municipality (9.7), Vilnius City Municipality (8.0), Salcininkai Municipality (6.6), Radviliskis Municipality (5.7) and Klaipeda District Municipality (5.0).

Staff of all healthcare establishments as well as residential and care institutions, excluding care homes for children, will be tested preventively in the abovementioned municipalities this week.
