VILNIUS, Aug 17, BNS Lithuania and the United States are Wednesday kicking off the field tactical training Strong Hussar 2016, which will be attended by about 1,300 troops.
The exercise will take place at the Gaiziunai training grounds in the Jonava district, central Lithuania, the Defense Ministry said.
Organizers say the training is unique due to participation of three recruit companies and a company of reserve troops. Both recruits and professional troops will conduct defense and assault tasks, carry out a tactical trip and plan various combat support. US Abrams tanks will be involved in the defense operation.
Under the exercise scenario, Lithuanian units with assigned foreign partners will fight against each other. The training will employ a simulation system based on laser technologies, which allows both defeating an enemy and learning about own injuries or loss of life.
